Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In response to the landslide and subsequent traffic disruptions, the Kalimpong district administration has announced the closure of National Highway 10 (NH 10) for repairs. The closure is scheduled to commence from 6 am on Saturday, March 30, until 6 am on Monday, April 1, as per a directive issued by the District Magistrate of Kalimpong. This decision follows the recent landslide on the route, causing inconvenience to travelers, prompting the administration to take action to address the safety concerns along the highway.
During the closure period, connectivity between Sikkim and Kalimpong will be redirected through the Siliguri Lava-Gorubathan-Sevak route for two days. The decision to close NH 10 aims to facilitate repair work, particularly addressing the landslide-affected areas, with authorities planning to mitigate potential risks by conducting repairs on the Likuvi mountain section of the highway.
